The boring bit:

My name’s Jay, I’m a student studying Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence at York University. I originally bought this domain when I was 14. I’m 19 now (at the time of writing this page) and I finally feel its time to have a serious blog on this site!

The content

I’ve split the blog up into 6 sections that are relevant to me or my hobbies. I feel this will help focus what i write about, instead of just writing nonsense about anything and everything.

 

News

Well. We all like to know what’s going on. Especially when you actually have brain. I plan to give my opinion on current events and anything that is new.

 

Gaming

I’m a gamer by nature. I’ve been playing games since I owned my NES. I don’t really like console gaming that much and am now stuck into computer games. You can find me on Steam as “Jaymzanator”.

 

Programming

I’ve been programming for well over 7 years. My first language was BASIC and since then I’ve probably developed something in most of the major languages. I’m pretty pro at PHP but I also realize that it’s one of the most horriblest languages you could possibly ever use.

Some of my major releases include:

• SnipSo Written in: C#/Perl/PHP. Its a screenshot capture tool written in C# and a web front end of PHP. The back end is done in Perl just for added measure. It received editor’s pick award at Brothersoft and has over 1000 screen shots uploaded to date.
• xc.io Written in: PHP. This is a URL shortener. I’m pretty sure most of you readers know what one is. But in case you dont. It turns long URLs like http://www.lolblog.net/about-me (too big for Twitter) and shrinks it down to http://xc.io/dSAa. I’ve shrunk nearly 1M URLs with it, but it’s too much of a burden to maintain so I’m no longer accepting new URLs.

I’ve also released hundreds of smaller scriptlets, and launched around 24 web sites. I don’t really fancy telling you what they are for the confidentiality of the people I’ve written them for.

Life

Yes. It’s true. I actually have a life “off screen”. I don’t want to splurgh all of my personal details on here, but I’ll keep you all posted about University and my achievements. There’s a girl called Maisie who really annoys me and wants to be included on here. She’s actually amazing (I just wrote that with a gun to my head)

 

Music

I’m also a musician by nature. I started playing Trombone when I was 8 and now play Guitar, Bass, Drums, Janggu, Piano, Synthesizer and some other, more classical instruments too. I have played with a number of established musicians and have laid down tracks as a session musician for 2 artists too.

I’m a sound engineer and do quite a few professional gigs. I used to work at a theatre and now tour around with my own kit. I use Nexo speakers, Crown Amplifiers and an Allen+Heath mixing desk.
